Conference Day 1: The Future of Covid-19: Diagnostics, Treatment, and Prevention  

November 7th, 2020: 10am - 11:30 am

 
 

Mary Mulcare, MD, FACEP, completed her undergraduate education at Princeton University and medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, was Chief Resident, and then did a fellowship in Geriatric Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Mulcare is an attending Emergency Medicine physician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. She is the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, Assistant Director for the Margaret and Ian Smith Clinical Skills Center at Weill Cornell Medicine, and Assistant Director of the Healthcare Leadership and Management Scholars Program. Dr. Mulcare is the Medical Director for Summus Global, a virtual healthcare company that provides individualized consultation services to help members navigate the healthcare system, align with specialists across the country suited to their needs, and prepare patients for virtual or in-person consultations.

Cathy Albisa is the VP of Institutional and Sectoral Change at Race Forward, and oversees the Government Alliance on Race and Equity.  She is also the co-founder and former Executive Director of Partners for Dignity & Rights (formally NESRI), a social movement organization that supports community groups across the country in their campaigns for structural change. She serves on the Human Rights Commission in New York City, and has published widely on economic and social rights, racial and gender justice, and human rights generally. She has also served in the leadership of boards of directors such as the Center for Constitutional Rights, the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, and the Center for Social Inclusion, among others. Cathy graduated with a JD from Columbia Law School and at BA from the University of Miami.

Conference Day 2: Venture Capital: How to Fund Your Health Tech Startup

November 14th, 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Zeshan is a founder and Managing Partner of MBX Capital. The son of a nephrologist, he is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs working to create a better system for patients and the people that care for them. He works closely with MBX partner companies ixLayer, Buoy Health, and Meissa Vaccines, in addition to serving on the Board of Directors of CloudCath. Previously, he was the CEO of FundRx, a leading healthcare investment marketplace, where he built the ​firm’s expert network and championed its portfolio value creation efforts. Prior to FundRx, he was Managing Partner at Tensile Company, a venture advisory firm. At Tensile, he was an early investor and advisor to plant genetics firm Ebbu, Inc., which  was acquired in a deal valued at over $300mm. At Tensile, he also worked with Torreya Partners, a boutique healthcare investment bank, to launch AvaRx, a healthcare M&A database and research platform. He is an advisor to BrainMind, a consortium working to support advances in brain science in collaboration with leading scientists at Stanford, MIT, and Harvard. Zeshan holds a BA degree in Political Economy and International Relations from Emory University, and is a Kauffman Fellow.

Michele Colucci is a venture capital thought leader, lawyer, investor, serial entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She has authored five patents in the technology space and founded companies in the legal, technology, retail, and entertainment spaces. Her extensive experience operating in highly regulated verticals has focused on issues from management to legal. As a venture capitalist focused on med tech, Colucci is committed to impacting the health field by investing in companies that enable doctors to make better diagnostic decisions through the application of AI and big data. She is a member of the board of directors of public and private firms including Global Indemnity Group, Nephrosant, Optina Diagnostics, Prime Genomics, and Trayt. She has been a frequent guest lecturer at Stanford University’s School of Engineering. In 2017, Colucci was named West Coast Ambassador by the Nobel Laureate Foundation. She earned her B.A. and J.D. from Georgetown University and an M.F.A from the AFI. Colucci speaks three languages and currently resides in Silicon Valley with her four children.

Conference Day 3: Taking Control of Your Health: Direct to Consumer

Dr. Saya Nagori is the Founding Physician for SimpleHealth.com, a telemedicine company that has grown from a team of 3 people to now a team of over 50 and has had over 1 million users across the country. She teaches physicians and institutions how to develop successful digital health models, practically employ these into existing healthcare practices, and strategies for sustainability and success across various healthcare initiatives. Her most recent project is in women's health, working with a group of physician experts on evidence-based information. Saya Nagori, MD @ SimpleHealth

Dr. Clare Purvis is Director of Behavioral Science at Headspace. Bridging science and innovation, Clare is committed to developing and scaling health products that support people in living full and vital lives. Clare leads the company’s Behavioral Science team, which focuses on integrating authentic expertise and behavioral science into company operations at scale, ensuring that Headspace inspires, guides, and supports our members in living healthier and happier lives. Previously, Clare led clinical product and coaching at Lantern, an evidence-based digital mental health company. Clare is also an affiliated scholar at Stanford University Clinical Excellence Research Center where she provides consultation on the use of technology to make great healthcare more affordable.

Clare Purvis @ Headspace

Karlo is a patient advocate and pioneer in bringing access to personalized medicines to global markets. As the senior real world evidence partner at PHAGE Corporation he works directly with pharmaceutical, medical device, and diagnostic manufacturers in supporting product development. Starting his career in the clinic, Karlo was a cytogeneticist diagnosing constitutional chromosomal abnormalities and neoplastic diseases. Getting a front row seat of pairing someone’s genetic profile and seeing how they responded to treatment drove Karlo into industry to learn more about personalized medicine.

His goal is to not only bring innovative treatments to the market but also focus on providing routes of access to desired health outcomes that are patient centric. Ultimately his goal is to champion marginalized patient populations and reduce the access barriers to care.
